[xine-devel] Alsa problem on startup

Syncing up with CVS today and building resulted in xine reporting the
following message on startup:

This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.4cvs.
(c) 2000-2004 The xine Team.
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:819:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

When I start xine I noticed that the sound level is 0. After setting it
to where I want it I see that the indicated sound level is reset to 0
after a few seconds.

Does this sound familiar?
