Hi!
Is anyone working on implementing the DVD playback trick modes functionality at the moment? I searched the list archives and see that there were some attempts to implement it, but from API/sources - this functionality is still absent (the only thing I can see is a set of defines XINE_TRICK_MODE_* in < xine.h> - I assume that this stuff is not actually used anywhere, correct?)
Can somebody share his experience regarding implementation of this feature,
The alternative - usage of fine speed xine option for fast (>4x) playback is actually a nasty hack because it saturates the CPU quickly. All Win32 players that I saw generate the almost constant CPU load starting from 2x mode (which is equal to 2x playback). I believe it is because up to 2x speed these players force decoder to "decode faster" and for speeds >2x they switch to other mode - trick playback in which only I-frames (and sometimes P-frames - for not-very high speeds) are decoded&displayed.
