Having no trouble with that myself. I'm just trying to say that if you look 
at it pragmatically, the whole gcc-checking thing is not necessary. People 
can read and see that 2.96 is not supported. I had to reply because I feel I 
have been misinterpreted, now this thread should lay down and die. This issue 
has been debated far too much. I don't disagree with you about 2.96, I'm just 
saying that an ordinary user should not have to worry about that, at the same 
time he should be able to RTFM, where it says that 2.96 is not supported.
