[MPlayer-users] weird (really weird) flickering issue

hi,
i have gentoo linux with MPlayer 1.0pre6-3.3.5 and other recent stuff...

since 3 or 4 weeks or so mplayer is quite broken...
if i play movies using -vo xv (default) the video flickers, every 2nd frame is 
fully grey the other frames are distorted with grey blocks or lines...
i could not determine when, or by what upgrade it is broken. but i recently 
found smth weired:
i have one movie that "repairs" the issue.. after playing it (few seconds are 
enough), _every_ movie plays fine! (untill i restart my pc, login/logout has no 
effect)
has something like this happend before to someone? 
does somebody know why this happens?

p.s.:
the distortions also happen with xine and are also repaired in xine after i 
played that movie...
i have attached the output of a movie played before the magic video, the output 
playing the magic video and the output of the first movie, played after the 
magic video....
